The Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy is pleased to announce the Annual Spanish Wine Tasting to members of the wine press and trade: the ‘Wines from Spain: The Rising Stars” tasting, which will take place in Dublin on the 10th September at the Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin 2.

As the Spanish wine is spreading all around the world, so is this year’s tasting in Dublin. Over 200 exciting wines will be on show at The Rising Stars Tasting with the collaboration of 21 Irish importers. The event has almost doubled in size from last year and aims to be even more successful than the highly praised 2007 tasting when over 180 professionals from the hospitality sector came to enjoy and learn about the wide selection of Spanish wines present in Ireland.

Known for wines of excellent quality-price ratio and their many outstanding gastronomic matching opportunities, Spain is the third largest exporter of wines in the world. With an impressive growth of 12,4% growth in value in 2007, Spain is currently the fourth largest importer in USA and UK after Italy, France and Australia with slower growth rates. Distinctive grapes, a wide range of climates and soils as well as a perfect combination of tradition and innovation make Spain the new world in the old world.

On this occasion, 21 Irish Importers and 10 Spanish Wineries will exhibit examples of why Spanish Wines are leaders in innovation and tradition. A sample of the importers exhibiting at the Dublin event include Approach Trade, Febvre & Co., Classic Wines, Liberty Wines and Vinos Tito.
